Right Triangle Shade Sails

A 90° corner that tucks into the corner of a house, wall or fence line — two anchors on the building, one post out in the yard. Our standard sails come in this shape.

  • Commercial 95 HDPE shade cloth — up to 95% UV block (by color), 22 colors
  • Reinforced corners: stainless D-rings, Pro-Rig style rings or sandwich brackets, sized to the sail
  • 3/16″ stainless perimeter cable in a sewn hem pocket
  • Curved (catenary) edges cut to tension without wrinkles
  • Turnbuckle or 4:1 pulley hardware available

We pull each corner in from its attachment point by the length of the hardware — about 10″ for a turnbuckle or block and tackle, 2″ for a direct connect — then make the sail 5% smaller so it stretches tight, and cut each edge with a curve about 5% of its length deep. So a 16′ finished square wants anchors about 18′ apart, and anchors 16′ apart make a square sail about 14′ 1″ per side (with tensioners at every corner). See the planning guide and field dimensions.

Do you sell standard right triangle sails?
Yes. Our standard sails are pre-patterned right triangles sold at a finished size: 12' x 12' x 17' and 18' x 18' x 25'. Any other size or angle is a custom sail, made to the finished size you give us or fit to your attachment points.
Finished dimensions or fit to my attachment points — which should I choose?
Choose finished dimensions when you know the size of sail you want and will set the anchors to suit it. Choose fit to my attachment points when the posts, walls or brackets are already there: measure point to point and we pattern the sail smaller so it stretches into that space with room for hardware and tension.
How accurate is a finished-size sail?
We build to the finished dimensions you give us within about 1″ per side. Your anchors need to sit farther out than the sail. Why is a triangle sail flat?
Three points always make a flat plane, so a triangle can’t twist the way a four-corner sail can. Set one corner lower than the other two so rain runs off. For the sculpted, twisted look, choose a custom four-corner sail.
How long until it ships?
Every sail is cut and sewn to order in Phoenix, standard or custom, with a lead time of 7–10 business days. We confirm your ship date when we confirm your order, and rush production is available — call if you have a deadline.
Can I return a sail?
Every sail is cut and sewn to order, standard sizes included, so our policy is that we don’t accept returns. In rare cases we may accept an unopened, unused sail at our discretion, with return shipping at your expense and restocking fees. See our Returns Policy. Please double-check your measurements and color before ordering — we’re happy to review them with you by phone.
