Catenary edges

Curved edges tension evenly, shed load to the corners, and give that crisp, sculpted line.

Reinforced corners

Multiple layers of fabric, stainless D-ring or corner plate, and UV-stabilized thread at every corner.

Stainless perimeter cable

Wire rope in a sewn hem pocket carries the load around the sail; webbing edge options available.

Tips for a fast, accurate quote

Label corners A, B, C… in the same order you measured.
Note which corners are on a wall, fascia, existing post or new post.
Give the approximate height of each anchor point.

How do I measure for a custom shade sail?

Measure straight-line distances between your fixing points (post to post, bracket to bracket), going around the shape: A–B, B–C and so on. For four or more corners, also measure the diagonals so we can lock in the exact geometry. We deduct for hardware and tension when we pattern the sail. Full measuring guide.

Why are shade sail edges curved?

A tensioned sail pulls into a curve. Cutting the edges with a built-in catenary curve lets the fabric tension evenly from corner to corner — no flapping, no wrinkles, and less stress on the corners.

What is the largest sail you can make?

Residential custom sails commonly run up to about 30–40 feet on a side; beyond that, larger spans are typically designed as engineered commercial structures with heavier fabric, cable and footings. Tell us the space and we’ll recommend the right approach.

Is the online estimate my final price?

It’s a fast, honest ballpark for the sail itself. Your firm quote confirms geometry, fabric, hardware and — if we’re installing — posts, footings, engineering and permits, each as its own line item.
