The part most people get wrong

Posts carry the whole story.

A shade sail is only as good as what it’s tensioned to. The steel posts and footings take continuous load from the sail and gusting wind loads on top of that, which is why we design sail and post together instead of selling them separately and hoping.

Posts are raked (tilted slightly away from the sail) so they stay plumb under tension, and set in footings sized for your soil and the sail’s load.

What’s in a shade sail structure kit?

The sail, steel posts sized for the sail and site, corner hardware, and footing details from engineering. It’s a matched system, so the posts are designed for the load that specific sail puts on them.

Can I install a kit myself?

Many homeowners and contractors do. Setting posts plumb, at the right rake and in properly sized footings is the critical part; our install guide covers the steps. In the Valley we can also set the posts for you.

Why not just use 4×4 wood posts?

A tensioned sail puts large, constant sideways loads on its posts — far more than most people expect. Undersized or wood posts lean, which slackens the sail and can fail in wind. Steel posts sized by engineering stay put.

How are kits shipped?

Posts are long and heavy, so kits ship by freight and are quoted by a project manager rather than checked out online. Sails and hardware alone ship by parcel.
