Corner, turnbuckle, pad eye
Turnbuckle Kit
Marine-grade stainless jaw/eye turnbuckles and snap hooks for each corner. The simplest way to tension a residential sail.
Pulley Kit (4:1)
Block-and-tackle kit with a 4:1 mechanical advantage — tension a large sail by hand, then lock it off. Also makes seasonal take-down fast.
Stainless Pad Eye
Wall- or fascia-mount anchor plate. Must be fastened into structural framing or masonry, never into stucco or trim alone.
3/16" Stainless Wire Rope
Perimeter cable that runs through the sail's hem pocket and carries load to the corners. Pre-installed in every stock sail.
Stainless Snap Hook
Quick-release clip between the corner D-ring and your tensioner — for taking sails down before a monsoon.
Three ways to tension a sail
Turnbuckle, pulley, or winch.
Turnbuckle
Thread it in to take up slack. Simple, compact and inexpensive — best for small to mid-size sails with a short take-up distance.
4:1 Pulley
Block and tackle quadruples your pull. Tension large sails by hand, lock the line off, and release it fast before a storm.
Winch / ratchet
For large commercial sails where tension must be applied and held precisely. Specified as part of an engineered structure.
